Along with those stores, their approach also disappeared. An approach where the customer was really the focus. What took its place? Big data, hyperpersonalization, AR, AI and a cartload of other trendy acronyms. But often these deliver nothing more than a pseudo-personal approach where statistical data tries to mimic customization.
